Chocolate Pudding Cake – it’s an old fashioned dessert, but it still tastes good and it’s easy to make.
Chocolate Pudding Cake Recipe
Cake
1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (dark chocolate cocoa powder works fine if you don’t mind a very dark colored cake.)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all cake ingredients together until well blended. Spread in ungreased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Optional: Add one egg with the other cake ingredients and the cake will rise a bit higher with a little lighter texture.
Pudding
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (dark chocolate cocoa powder works too)
1 3/4 cups very hot water
Stir all pudding ingredients together in small bowl. Pudding consistency will be very watery.
Baking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour pudding over cake. If you hold a spoon over the cake and pour the pudding onto the spoon it spreads out before it lands and doesn’t dig holes in the cake like it will if poured directly onto the cake batter. The pudding will look like dark water on top of the cake before baking.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 – 45 minutes. The cake will rise to the top and the pudding will be underneath. It thickens during baking.
Serve warm or cold. Flip cake piece over in bowl for serving so top becomes bottom. Spoon pudding sauce over top of cake. Enjoy plain or top with ice cream or whipped cream.
Yum
I haven’t had that in a while. It is good cake.
Easy to make too.
